The Science of Robotic and Artificial Intelligence (MIS 750)

Ever since I was a kid, robots has been fascinates me. The best thing about robot is, it was make to help and assist us (human) in many ways. My first memory of robot is from a cartoon series called “Voltron: Defender of Universe” and Transformers. It is interesting to see a human piloting and controlling a robot to fight the enemy. The other best thing about Voltron is it has five separate robots in a tiger form and it can combine and transform into a single huge robot in a humanoid form. It would be awesome if this kind of robot is already built for military purpose. Different from Voltron, transformers are robot that has an Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) which they can think and do stuff without being controlled by human. Transformers on the other hand, are extraterrestrial being or life form in which their origin is unknown. Here on earth we know that we (human) can build a robot but who is the one that build transformers in the first place?

Now, the part from cartoon, comics, manga or television series and movies involve with robots, some of the technology is there and can be develop with enough resource and knowledge. The histories of robotics engineering are long before the industrial revolution. Its way back around 350 B.C. where a brilliant Greek mathematician, Archytas of Tarentum builds a mechanical bird called “the pigeon” that is propelled by steam. It is an interesting history to look at.

Before we discuss any further let’s discuss a bit about the definition of robot and types of robot. The definition of robot is a bit blurry where there is no single correct definition of robot. The definition itself is broad where it can be defined as a programmable, self-controlled device consisting of electronic, electrical, or mechanical units. In other words, robot is a machine that helps us doing the hard jobs that we can’t do such as being sent deep into the ocean floor or to the mars (Rover) or just helping us in assembling cars and other products that needed to be manufactured.


The word ‘Robot’ actually a new word created in 20th century which comes from the Czechoslovakian word ‘robota’ or ‘robotnik’ meaning slave, servant, or forced labor. There is no mistake with Czechoslovakian word, as robots are used as forced labor for humans.

We already discuss a little bit about robots. Now what is Artificial Intelligent? The word artificial brings the meaning of man-made and artificial intelligent is something to do with machine (man-made) that can analyzed, think and make decision on their own. The best example is Transformers. Scientist are currently trying to create an A.I. that can act and think like human but the one thing that separates us from machines is we have emotion that is intangible for the machine to imitate or impersonate. Other interesting topic regarding robots is that Japan is currently at the top in the robotic technology. They already build a robot that can imitate human expression. The latest technology on robotic from Japan is a robot that can be ride like the one we see in anime such as Gundam, Robotech, and etc. This robot was built by Kogoro Kurata for fulfilling his childhood dream of riding a robot from such anime. Cloud Computing (MIS 750)

          In the recent years, the word "Cloud Computing" has become very popular among the internet users. But does anyone really understand what does it mean? The word "Cloud" derived from the cloud-shaped symbol which represent the internet as an intermediary for accessing data, software or application.  Therefore, cloud computing was actually being used long since the internet itself has been used by the public and personal computers. The purpose of cloud computing is nothing more than making our life easier. The concept is that, you can access your file wherever and whenever you want using internet as a medium of storage where you don't need pendrive or hard disk with you wherever you go. As long as there is internet access, you can retrieve it whenever you want.

          Cloud computing not only just improve the life of a personal user but also does wonders to firms and corporation. Big company which have bigger data that need to be stored will need a bigger size server and this will cost a lot more if they are trying to manage their own server. A simple solution for this, is to buy services from company that provide server and data storage (outsource). A more detail explanation can be watch here.

Sharing my thought on CM Punk...

    CM Punk or his real name is Phillip Jack Brooks is an American Wrestler under contract with WWE Raw Brand. He is my favorite wrestler after Shawn Michael retired from wresting. In my opinion, he has made WWE interesting again. His match against John Cena at money in the bank it the most awesome mind blowing match surpassing wrestler-mania main event. Without a doubt from this moment on, he gain a lot of respect from the audience that he is truly one of the best wrestler out there. Not just beating John Cena and won the WWE Champion, he is the only wrestler in WWE who managed to screwed Vince McMahon and relieve of his duties as WWE Chairman indirectly. This is what he called "The domino effect" which from one of his action that lead to the effect that made the conclusion. What interest me the most is his attitude and persona which is different from any other wrestler. I've never seen any wrestler who like to sit on the ring matte while waiting for his opponent to enter the ring. Enough said about CM Punk, for more info please visit wiki or his website or wwe.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE)

World Wrestling Entertainment or better known as WWE is the biggest and well established wrestling company on the face of earth. Who doesn't know about WWE. It has millions and billions fans across the globe.

A lot of wrestler wants to be part of WWE family and it has generate a lot of well known wrestler such as Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Michael, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson  and many more.

The best about WWE is that it has drama and plot that some may not even anticipate it will happen. It is fake but all the moved are not pain free. For that, i respect what the wrestler is going through to perform for the fans. A wrestler is a stun-man, an actor and a performer.
